Branch 1 network (10.10.20.0/23) is trying to have connectivity to the Head Office's network (10.10.10.0/23). What is the simplest approach to provide routing between these two offices?
Head_Office(config)#ip route 10.10.20.0 255.255.254.0 10.10.3.1
Head_Office(config)#ip route 10.10.20.0 255.255.254.0 10.10.3.2
Branch_1(config)#ip route 10.10.10.0 255.255.254.0 10.10.3.2
Branch_1(config)#ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.3.2
Configuration of a network through static routing is easy for a small network, however it is not intented for large networks. The command IP route "ip route [Destinationnetwork] [Mask] [Nexthopaddress or Exit interface] [Administrative Distance][Permanent]" describes how to manually add routes to the router's table. In the example default routing has been configured in the Branch1 office, which is the best for stub networks (those with only one path out of the network). The "ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.3.2" command means that if there is not any entry for a network in the routing table, just forward it to the next hop 10.10.3.2. Meaning that all unknown packets will go to that address, which is the simplest way to configure routing. However do not forget that the other end (Head Office) also needs to know the way back to 10.10.20.0/23, in order to have full communication.
