Glass insulator in fiber optic cabling is known as ______?
Coating
Buffer tube
Cladding
Core
Three main parts of fiber cabling are the core, cladding, and jacket. Core is where light is transmitted, the cladding surrounds the core with a significantly lower refractive index (thus the light is reflected back into the core like a mirror), the jacket is PVC or other protective material to reduce damage to the core/cladding. Note that none of these layers are "insulator" layers so I don't understand the question (one of those "choose the best" which the cladding does seem to be the best answer...)Why is this a CISSP question?
