Harry has one research project which is both behind schedule and slightly over budget. He has calculated the following against his project: CPI=.8, PV=$50,000, AC=$100,000, BAC=$75,000, and EV=$65,000. Which is the correct EAC calculation result for his project?
$109,615
$108,724
$104,635
$120,000
Let's first look at the formulas: SPI=EV/PV which is 1.3=$65,000/$50,000 or SPI=1.3. Then we proceed to EAC formula stating that future work will be influenced by both CPI and SPI: EAC =AC+[(BAC-EV)/(CPISPI)]. We fill in the calculation EAC=$100,000+([$75,000-$65,000]/[.81.3]) =$109,615. (PMBOK 2013 Rev 5th Edition, pgs 217-225).
