If there is no concise and clear network map for troubleshooting, which of the following methods would be the best one for mapping a Cisco network, if all configuration is left to its defaults?
Use Cisco PowerCheck, Configure it with all your passwords/credentials, and it will document your network for you and give you a 2D network map with configured Hostnames, IP-Addresses ( v4 & v6), and MAC-Addresses
Check connected devices with: "show cdp neighbors detail", get their ip addresses, telnet to your neighbors and keep running that command until you have discovered the interconnections between all your devices
Do a Traceroute to check the routing path of a packet.
Verify availability of a device with a Ping.
Display port and IP information with "show run"
Cisco Discovery Protocol "CDP", runs by default on Cisco routers and can be used to discover information about physical attached devices. It is usually a great tool for creating a network map for the Cisco devices interconnected (if is enabled).
