In automatic network simulation that involves real-time data, which of the following transmission protocols are generally used?
UDP
RTU
TCP
DNP
For the purposes of automatic network simulation, the retransmission mechanisms of TCP are generally not useful. ADAS need UDP for real time data. Hence UDP is used.
The correct answer is either TCP or UDP. TCP is used if every packet is needed and UDP can be used if lost frames are ok (say in media streaming). In some safety applications such as real time aircraft control only “now” matters so a rare dropped packet is ok as long as the next packet gets there fast enough. In this case the definition of real time is longer than several packets and as long as the error is not overwhelming it is accepted because the correction comes in fast enough.
