Refer to the exhibit. An old switch with default values is introduced to a fully STP converged Switched LAN with default values. What can be done to maintain the same STP topology and avoid the Old_switch to provoke a root bridge reelection?
Re-configure root bridge priorities.
Configure the port costs to be higher than the Old_switch.
Configure default costs on all links.
Enable BPDU Guard.
Default STP configuration might affect the network at some point. By default all switches use a root bridge priority of 32768. If all switches have the same priority then the switch with the lowest MAC address will be elected as a Root Bridge. In this case Old_Switch will become the Root Bridge and a STP re-computation will occur. To maintain the same STP topology it is necessary to set root bridge priority values.
