Refer to the exhibit. The AUTO negotiation mode is set in Router "R1" interfaces as well as in Router R4's interfaces. The hosts connected to Switch "SW1" cannot communicate with hosts in Switch SW4. What can be done to solve the issue?
Replace the cable between R1 and R4 with a straight-through cable
Replace the cable between R1 and R4 with a crossover cable
Issue a "no shutdown" under the Interface f1/0 of router R1.
Reconfigure the IP addresses on R1 & R4 so that they belong to a common subnet.
The output of the command "show ip int brief" shows two fields, status and Protocol according to each interface. The Protocol is related to the status of the Layer 2 protocol, in case that there is a duplex mismatch or different speed. The status is related to the condition of the layer 1. In this case the output indicates that both are "down", if Layer 1 is down then Layer 2 must also be down. Layer 1 issues are only related to hardware, so the best solution among the answers is to check and change the cable.
