Refer to the exhibit. Two switches, one Cisco and one non-Cisco (different vendor), are set up to transfer all VLAN information between them using a trunk link. The network administrator executes the configuration script on the Cisco device. The dynamic trunk cannot be established between both switches. What can be done to solve the problem?
Modify the mode to "access".
VTP is not enabled on the trunk.
Restart the interface.
Disable DTP.
Dynamic Trunking Protocol "DTP" is a protocol used to negotiate the formation of a trunk between two Cisco devices. DTP is Cisco propriety, so it doesnt work for different vendors. DTP is on by default, to disable DTP, issue the command SW2(config-if)#switchport nonegotiate". To allow a trunk to be formed between two switches, the ports should be configured as "mode trunk". The "switchport mode access" should be used only to connect devices that belong to one VLAN. VTP (VLAN trunking Protocol) is not a trunking protocol, it is used to facilitate VLAN configuration in all switches by creating a VTP domain.
