This is the measure of trustworthiness of a routing information source:
Diffusing Update Algorithm
Dijkstra's algorithm
Administrative Distance
Metric
AD or Administrative Distance is the criterion that a router uses to determine which routing protocols to use when two or more routing protocols directs to a single destination. AD is the measure of trustworthiness of a routing information source. The smaller AD value, the more reliable the protocol. Metric is a calculated value. The calculation is done by the Routing Protocols. Basically, metrics are used to select which path should be used by the selected routing protocol. EIGRPês DUAL (Diffusing Update Algorithm) and OSPFês Dijkstraês Algorithm are examples of algorithm that calculates metric.
