This is a connection oriented non persistent link, meaning that this link is only temporary, and will not persist for a long period of time, only while the individual is using the connection.
With circuit switching, the traffic moves in a predictable and consistent manner across the circuit. Packet switching is how the internet operates. Packets can take many different dynamic paths in order to get to the same destination. This can help you to provide redundancy because if one link is down the traffic can go a different route.
With a circuit switch network, if the circuit goes off line you will not be able to send any traffic. Packet switching supports traffic that is bursting. Where traffic is generally at a certain level but then can increase rapidly for short periods of time. Packet switching is used to carry data oriented information, whereas circuit switching is more commonly used for voice traffic.
