If a famous celebrity like Beyoncé were to advertise a service or product without the product maker being able to prepare for the massive rush of traffic to the product's website and it went down what type of denial of service is this?
TDOS
DDOS
VIP DOS
VDOS
Hit and Run DOS
************ Great answer if you want to cite Urban Dictionary as the source. *************** An Unintentional denial-of-service can occur when a system ends up denied, not due to a deliberate attack by a single individual or group of individuals, but simply due to a sudden enormous spike in popularity. This can happen when an extremely popular website posts a prominent link to a second, less well-prepared site, for example, as part of a news story. The result is that a significant proportion of the primary site's regular users – potentially hundreds of thousands of people – click that link in the space of a few hours, having the same effect on the target website as a DDoS attack. A VIPDoS is the same, but specifically when the link was posted by a celebrity.
DDoS definitions (including from https://www.us-cert.gov/ncas/tips/ST04-015) explicitly refer to an "attacker" and the "attack" being coordinated. US-CERT also states "Not all disruptions to service are the result of a denial-of-service attack". VIP DOS is the only correct answer. EDIT: I don't agree. Correct answer is DDoS, there isn't VIP DOS attack.
