If CRC errors are increasing on a router, what can be a cause of the CRC error generation?
A misconfigured Access Control List.
A faulty Network Interface Card.
Bad network design.
An administratively shut down port.
An error is caused when the CRC "Cyclical Redundancy Check" fails. CRC errors can happen for many reasons, such as a bad NIC, Cable, excessive noise or even a duplex mismatch. If an interface is shut down the interface does not send traffic. Bad network designs can generate collisions and full duplex collisions. Access Control Lists work on the layer 3 of the OSI model; therefore do not generate CRC errors when operating.
