In regards to the OSI model, PPTP is a Session Layer protocol.
True
False
PPTP (Point to Point Tunneling Protocol) is a data link layer protocol. It is mainly used in private networks.
EDIT: To confuse things - L2TP and PPTP are considered by many to be at Layer 5 (Session). Which makes sense - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listofnetworkprotocols(OSI_model). I spent time researching this and FWIW the CEH exam demands that you regurgitate the (wrong!) answer "LT2P/PPTP/PPPOE are at Layer 2". Even though they are not. Sigh. Edit: When spending time researching, was it all on wikipedia?
