VTP is configured in the network to allow easy VLAN management. However, all unknown unicasts and broadcast in the VLAN are being sent and all switches have to process this redundant traffic. How can this unnecessary traffic be eliminated?
Configure VTP Transparent mode
Configure VTP pruning.
Enable DTP.
Set the no-negotiate mode in all switches.
Use different VTP domains.
When VTP pruning is enabled on a VTP server, the entire domain will be enabled with pruning. VTP pruning is a feature used to eliminate or prune all the unnecessary traffic. DTP is used to negotiate trunk link between two switches and the no-negotiate is to disable it. If VTP between two switches is configured in different domains it will not work. VTP transparent mode will "disable" VTP in the switch, the switches will not participate in the VTP mode, but they do forward VTP advertisements.
