Salt

Cipher
Some hashing algorithms have a salt, which makes brute force cracking more difficult. ::EDIT Brute force or Rainbow table?? please explain.
Edit: if you add salt to a password, then input string is longer and it is harder to use both brute force and rainbow attacks. So this question is correct.
