The Hexadecimal value for NOP instructions is 0x90 for the x86 processor family. See various references for x64. Other processors may have completely different NOP codes. Concatenating multiple NOP instructions together forms what is known as a NOP sled which can exceed the program's buffer causing an overflow and allowing the attacker to execute arbitrary code programmed at the end of a series of NOPs.
