SVI stands for Switch Virtual Interface. SVI is a concept related to VLANs. SVI represents a logical layer 3 interface on a switch. It allows hosts on different VLANs to communicate with each other. To create SVIs, issue the command "interface vlan[vlan-id]" where "vlan-id" is the VLAN number for which you want to configure. By default, all interfaces belong to VLAN 1.
