What is the default VTP mode?
Off
Transparent
Client
Server
VTP Server is the default mode on Cisco Switches. Other modes are Client, Transparent and Off (configurable only in CatOS Switches). VTP Clients behave the same way as the VTP Server; However, you cannot create, delete, nor edit VLANs. With a VTP Server mode, you can create, edit, and delete VLANs as well as configure other VTP parameters such as VTP usernames/passwords, domains, and versions. With a VTP Transparent mode, VTP advertisements are forwarded (VTP version 2). VTP Transparent switches do not participate in VTP. VTP Transparent switch does not forward its VLAN configuration and does not synchronize its VLAN configuration based on the received advertisements. VTP Off switches behave the same way as the transparent mode, except that VTP advertisements are not forwarded.
