Why would you prefer GLBP over HSRP and VRRP?
GLBP is easy to configure as GLBP configuration is provided to hosts through DHCP.
GLBP uses a virtual IP address while HSRP and VRRP use physical IP addresses.
GLBP is an IETF standard.
GLBP provides load-balancing within a single subnet.
GLBP (Gateway Load Balancing Protocol) is Cisco-proprietary and not an IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard. GLBP uses a virtual IP address but so do HSRP and VRRP, so thats not the reason GLBP would be preferred over the other two protocols. The real merit of GLBP is that it can support load-balancing for hosts in a single subnet. Hosts do not participate in GLBP in any way.
